Dean "Jim" Conklin passes away

WELCOMECYC is an all volunteer non-profit Yacht Club open to any and all interested in sailing, who seek camaraderie and fellowship without pretense. The city of Chico is located in Butte County within several hours of the Sacramento River Delta and enjoys closer proximity to many sailing lakes. San Francisco Bay is just a bit farther but certainly within reach. The club originally was composed of mostly "trailer sailors", frequenting the waters of Lakes Oroville, Almanor, and Whiskey Town. We still have a large contingent of those folks, but many have now joined the ranks of larger fixed-keel boats owners permanently berthed in San Francisco Bay. The club's organized cruises are now held on both the Bay and on area lakes. Members of the club also charter boats or trailer boats north or south to sail behind Vancouver Island or in the Santa Barbara Channel. A daring few sail down the coast of California and cruise Mexico or cross the Pacific.
